Every other day this process appears and once it's started the IDE freezes completely by intervals of around ~30s leading to the app to crash half of the times.
It looks like it has something to do with downloading/updating the index of Maven repositories.

Cannot evaluate freezes without a thread dump (or self-profiler snapshot).

By the way, you can disable automatic repo index updating in Tools > Options > Miscellaneous > Maven.
