After installing the 8/3/2011 dev version of 7.1, I updated the plugins and restarted NetBeans. Slowness dialog occurred, but seemed to restart fine. Needing to close NetBeans for a PC reboot (unrelated to this issue), I tried to close NetBeans and received the internal error. Currently, NetBeans cannot be closed gracefully.
Created attachment 109819 [details] messages.log Adding 'messages.log'. The automated submission tool failed to send this issue several times. I gave up and entered the issue manually.
Starting NetBeans encounters the same InternalError during startup. Attempting to close again also causes the error. This dev version appears unusable.
After installing the 8/3 nightly dev, there are about 10 updates that are available for the general IDE. I have only BaseIDE, JavaSE, C/C++, and PHP installed. After running the updater the issue occurs and cannot be undone. Here's a series of steps I have taken today. Note that I also had a July dev version installed and after updating the plugins in *this* new dev version, the previous dev version also threw this error. I have tried these steps using both JRE 6u26 and JRE 7, which has no effect on the results. 1. Install JDK 6 update 26 2. Install NetBeans IDE Build 201108030600 3. Import user settings - everything fine to this point, can restart, etc. 4. Auto-update - InternalError thrown on startup and shutdown, 'slowness' dialogs appear several times during startup, etc. Reinstalling the IDE makes no difference. Uninstalling, removing the 'dev' userdir and then reinstalling solves the issue. At this point, I can't say which plugin causes the issue.
