In the new JavaScript support we will use Nashorn engine. There has to be done some modification in Nashorn itself to use it in NetBeans. One of the biggest issue is that Nashorn itself is not possible to run on JDK 1.6.

Related to replacing Rhino, which was done a few years ago.
