Product Version = NetBeans IDE 7.1 (Build 201112071828) Operating System = Mac OS X version 10.7.2 running on x86_64 Java; VM; Vendor = 1.6.0_29 Runtime = Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 20.4-b02-402 When using a black background color for syntax coloring, the Diff panels don't match. The left panel has default background color (white) while the right panel has the correct background color (i.e. black in my case). This is annoying because when using dark background I can't see anything in the left panel since texts are white over white.
Can you check and let us know what are the colors for "Guarded block" in Tools > Options > Fonts & Colors, tab Highlighting?
"Guarded block" says "Foreground : Inherited" / "Background : 223, 223, 223"

Same problem here. (see attachment 'screenshot of the problem'). Changing the color of the 'Guarded block' seems not to have any effect Product Version: NetBeans IDE 7.1 (Build 201112071828) Java: 1.6.0_26; Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 20.1-b02 System: Linux version 3.0.0-16-generic running on amd64; UTF-8; en_US (nb)
Just to let everybody know that in my case after a couple of restarts to NetBeans the background color settings (defined in Tools->Options->Fonts & Colors->Highlighting->Guarded Block) did take effect.
Could you check in the latest dev build? When i switch from "Netbeans" profile to e.g. "City Lights" in Tools -> Options -> Fonts & Colors, both panels' backgrounds turn black. Seems to work in dev builds (possibly in 7.3?)
