There was originaly submenu, but it was recreated because e.g. removing more than one group at the same time or all of the groups, listing properties of particular group or removing it without necessity of switching to that group. If you want to access project groups quicker, please create shortcut for that e.g. Ctrl + Shift + G (Tools->Options->Keymap). Closing as WONTFIX.
