on the following page : http://www.netbeans.org/platform/docs/getstarted.html, there is a dead link to http://www.netbeans.org/platform/docs/modulestart.html (it throws a 404 error) I wanted to start developing a module but the docs to get me started seems unavailable :(
Thanks for the report. Marek, this broken link was reported via email to webmaster@netbeans.org on May 17. You replied the same day saying you were fixing the link (subject of mail was "platform: bad links"). May 24th I emailed you asking why this link was still broken. Please fix.
Still, where may i find the correct page (even though the link on the source page is not valid) ?
Sorry for delay, so I didn't know correct link. I had to ask author of content for correct link. Now is fixed. It'll on line no next publish cycle (about 1 hour)
The link you corrected points to http://www.netbeans.org/platform/docs/buildAndRun.html Are you really sure this is the page that should be referred to. We are in the "Code your Modules " section and the phrase states that "You can find more information on how to get started writing modules here" and the page you specified talks about building the module. In fact, the same link is located in the section "Build and Package Your Application" : "For more info about checking out the sources and building the platform, please see the Build & Run document"....
There were originialy two pages Starting module and Build and run, I've merged them into one. Thus yes I'm sure the link should go to the same Build & Run page. From there you can go to APIs pages which give the info on writing modules. I don't know about any specific page on writting modules. If you do please feel free to suggest it as the target of the link.
