I have installed a fresh full WLS 12.2.1 (GA, full samples, etc.).
When pointing the WLS plugin to the /domain/base_domain dir (local domain).
NB complains -> 'The entered installation directory is not properly structured'

I am using NB 8.1 RC2 with JDK 8u65 on an OBI Windows.

Not an issue. 
server dir need to be registred first, then domain dir second
