Got a similar issue by upgrading to Java 8: https://netbeans.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=270872

Note that NB 8.0.x or NB 7.x are shipped with Java 7, whereas NB 8.1+ is shipped with Java 8.

Can you try NB 8.0.2 to see if it works correctly?
