I see several problems with debugger window: - how can I dock the watches view to the output window mode? (I cannot and there is a bug when I want to dock whole debugger view). - why are there missing splitters, how can I resize debugger window subviews? - why are there at the top two rows of icons that steals my window space estate? I think that we can address all above problems by making standalone topcomponents from current subviews.
Wasting screen estate is a performance issue as well.
Module owner asked me to make an enhancement from this issue. He pointed me how can I change layout to get desired result. It's very complex task. Still I consider it an UI bug. It's probably NB4DEV_CANDIDATE.
Hanz, the hack works for one subview only. I cannot undock all subviews an place them into output window (one or two of them per tab).
Created attachment 8610 [details] Frame context debugger view
Created attachment 8611 [details] Global debugger state view
Finally I got following layout (see attachments): - Frame context debugger view - Global debugger state view It is pretty close to my desired layout except that above views are mutually exclusive (view clonning is not supported). Besides I like the Frame context debugger view more than IDEA's debugger layout (so turning to enhancement :-)).
should be fixed by New Window System
Will be fixed by new window system.
