This Bugzilla instance is a read-only archive of historic NetBeans bug reports. To report a bug in NetBeans please follow the project's instructions for reporting issues.
Guideline "Step by step how to correctly report a bug." does not contain a note about thread dumps. So when a user is asked to add a thread dump to a bug report, they do not know how to do so. The guideline should contain relevant information: - what the thread dump is (e.g. "call stacks of all existing threads") - how to create it - how to do it on Unix-like systems, on Windows, on Mac OS X - how to add a thread dump it to an existing bug report - how to create a new bug with a thread dump
The guideline is at http://qa.netbeans.org/bugzilla/reportbug.html.
Reassigning to issues@qa. Happy to help with this if you want QA guys (pls give me required content if yes!). Also I noticed there are some strange old font styles used on the page, if you like I could clean up and reformat ...
I've created a new page with the description on how to generate a thread dump: http://qa.netbeans.org/bugzilla/generating-thread-dumps.html I've also significantly updated the How to Report a Bug page and added a link to the Thread Dump page. See http://qa.netbeans.org/bugzilla/reportbug.html I believe these changes address the problem, so I'm changing the status of this issue to RESOLVED FIXED.
Looks good, thanks.
