I just installed the recently released 3.6 release candidate 1. I normally make heavy use of the View Over A Filesystem facility, but the viewfs module isn't installed by default. However, none of the autoupdate centre entries in the RC version list any modules, so I can't install it from there. I didn't have this problem with 3.6 beta 1, although I don't if that was just using the 3.5 AU centres instead (I didn't import my 3.5 settings in RC1 like I did in beta1, as I'd had various other issues that were due to conflicting module versions). Please can you add the viewfs module to the appropriate AU centre for 3.6rc1, and save me having to download & install it manually?
You ment module treefs, rigth ? This module wasn't certified for NB 3.6 update center yet. According to processes for UC, it is up to module developer to make a module available on UC. I'm reassignig this issue to treefs module. Please, next time submit your request to module owner to publish his module on UC.
You're right, s/viewfs/treefs If it were only that module that was missing, I probably would have gone there first. However, there are absolutely no modules showing under any of the AU centres (there's a bunch of others which I use from time to time, but they aren't as urgent as treefs), which made me think it was a more general problem. If it's up to each of the module owners to add them, perhaps you should hassle them all to do so prior to a release, so that the AU centres are ready & waiting for all us upgrade junkies :-)
All the plug-ins that I have used through the last DEV release worked fine - View over a Filesystem, Javagator, Navigator, PMD, Master Filesystem, Bookmarks. I have used other plug-ins to a lesser extent. I currently have just renamed my .netbeans sub-directory to 3.6rc1. It works well...
I have requested upload of treefs.nbm to stable AU center for 3.6: http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=720416&listName=aumasters I've been told that if there are no objections it will appear there soon. That is all I can do. As you seem to have problems with other modules as well, I am returning this back to nbbuild. Where it probably belongs.
I think this should have a higher priority. For many people the plugins are what makes an IDE productive. Comparison between NB and any other IDE would be unfair without considering the functionality that plugins provide. Without doubt, releasing NB without plugins will only give a potential new user that sense of a cut-down IDE - which NB certainly isn't.
