Description miklp 2004-04-11 20:29:56 UTC
Excuse-me, this is the first time I report a bug,
I may make some mistakes. But it is an important
bug...
I have downloaded Netbeans 3.6RC3 for Windows (my
WinXP Home is the French edition) yesterday,
uninstalled Netbeans 3.5, installed the new
Netbeans version.
It worked well, my projects have been imported and
I had no problems (I worked on 2 projects for more
that 4 hours). I often switch from other
applications to Netbeans and there were no problem
too, but another time, Netbeans didn't like this.
When I switched to it, only one tab (corresponding
to the opened java files) of the 10 opened
appeared (I couldn't see the others) and Netbeans
were about to freeze. I closed it, reopened it and
then all the files (java files and other files
like .class, .gif, ...) of my project have been
deleted : just an empty folder remained... I tried
to open an other project (Project - Project
Manager - Double click on an other project) : the
same thing happened : all the files of the folder
have been deleted.
Therefore, this is a very important bug. I can't
give more details, for the moment it didn't happen
again... The only thing I know is that it is not a
mistake I could have made (nor Windows, and I
don't have viruses on my PC).

are you able to reproduce ? I suppose that not but if it happens
again append thread dump of the deadlock to this issue, please. It'll
help us to find the problem.
How to create thread dump http://qa.netbeans.org/bugzilla/generating-
thread-dumps.html

reassigning to editor for evaluation

I today used Netbeans for 2 hours (I worked on 2 projects), and I
didn't have any problem. I tried to reproduce the bug (it is a
difficult task given that I don't really know how it happened the 1st
time), but didn't manage to. I think this bug appears very rarely and
then is not as important as I had thought the 1st time. But I hope I
(and the other users) won't have the problem again.
If I have it again, I'll give you more information as you adviced me
in comment #2 (I know run Nb in a prompt).
Comment 3 Martin Roskanin 2004-04-13 07:45:19 UTC
It is not an editor issue. Reassigning to projects...
Comment 4 Lukas Hasik 2004-04-13 09:35:43 UTC
closing as worksforme, incomplete. Please, feel free to reopen (and
remove INCOMPLETE keyword) when you will have more informations.

We are not able to do anything for now. Thanks for report.
