trunk build 200404011800 with ide.cfg from release branch, jdk 1.4.2_03, Dell Precision 220, PIII 800MHz, 512MB RAM, Linux I created a simple class that print 100000 lines w/ ~90 chars. It takes 10 seconds to run it in my native GNOME term window but 30 seconds to run it in IDE because the terminal emulator is slower.
Reassigning to Marek, new owner of output window and help system
FWIW, I just noticed that for every line output, the window system updates the splitpane slider positions of every component in the main window (to the same value they already have). May not be directly related, but it sure can't help
Tim prepares new output window impl (replacement of terminal emulator). Tim do you think it will help?
Oh yeah :-)
Hele, is this fixed or what?
Fixed in new output window, not fixed for terminal emulator, which it's filed against and is technically something we still support. Marek, up to you to work out with Trung what we should do with all of these.
fixed if the product uses the new output window. If it sticks w/ the terminal emulator, then this this the price to pay. We won't try to make terminal emulator lib faster
