Change default installation directory for jdk to another name (e.g. /opt/java). The jdk will be installed into directory: /opt/java/jdk1.5.0 instead of expected /opt/java.
but only if you're root
no, I was logged as normal user.
if you're a normal, non-root user you don't have write permission to /opt dir. The installer shoudn't offer that dir as default. why you think this is a bug? And why P2
If you are logged as normal user default dir should be $HOME/jdk1.5.0. Send me directly what machine you use. Perhaps some configuration problem?
I'm sorry, directory /opt is wrong example. I installed into writeable directory /space/user. Installer always add jdk1.5.0 subdirectory to install JDK path.
JDK installator creates "jdk1.5.0" directory during installation on Linux/Solaris. Fix moves installed files to parent directory so that they are placed in desired directory and deletes "jdk1.5.0" directory.
