When opening up a project and intereacting with the "Open Project" dialog there are two buttons at the bottom that are confusing enought that I always mess up. They are the "Open" and "Open Project Folder" buttons. When I first encountered them I thought that "Open" meant "open the project" and "Open Project Folder" meant "look inside the folder to see if there are things inside". This (wrong) assumption was bolstered by the fact that "Open" was the default button, which corresponded to my intuition about which was the most likely action for me to want to perform. But, in fact, the meanings are reversed. Both the button labels and the default action are totally the opposite of what I had expected. I suggest relabeling the buttons to something like "Open Project" and "Open Folder", and making "Open Project" be the default.
Well-known problem, esp. on Macs. Nothing we can do about it, AFAIK - it is a problem with the UI of JFileChooser in directory selection mode. We are in contact with the Swing team about the poor UI of JFileChooser.
