Description dme 2004-10-08 10:54:52 UTC
With Beta 1, I had the choice of the ProGuard and
Retroguard obfuscators. With Beta 2, I only have
Proguard, and the user interface doesn't offer a
choice.

However, the jars' obfuscated with Proguard don't
work in my Motorola A835 emulator, whilst those
obfuscated with Retroguard do.

My workaround has been to over-write the proguard
jar with the retroguard jar from Beta 1, but it
isn't a very smart solution.

I assume this has something to do with the Mobility support. Feel free
to re-assign, if appropriate.
Comment 2 Martin Ryzl 2004-11-01 13:51:09 UTC
There are several levels (all with some description what is
obfuscated) of obfuscation that can be set using customizer. Could at
least one level be used with A835 emulator?

Proguard obfuscation levels 1-4 work with the Motorola A835 emulator,
higher levels do not.

All Retroguard levels work with the A835.

All Proguard levels work with the 'Default Colour Phone' shipped with
the wireless extensions.

We are not going to put back RetroGuard. ProGuard is much more
efficient than RetroGuard, it takes better from it and from other open
source obfuscators. I wonder what the quality of PG level 4
obfuscation is comparing to RG.
Anyway, there is an internal request for enhancement to provide better
customization of ProGuard obfuscator which would allow using of higher
level for NB 4.1.
