This Bugzilla instance is a read-only archive of historic NetBeans bug reports. To report a bug in NetBeans please follow the project's instructions for reporting issues.
reported by Martin van Tonder on nbusers: "I am using NetBeans 4.1 beta. I have added a local instance of SJAS 2005Q1 to the server registry. This works fine and I have deployed apps to it. Unfortunately NetBeans4.1 will simply not give me the option to add a remote server to this registry even though this should be activated once I register a local server instance". It's really hard to find out how to add remote server instance to the server registry without reading help. First impression, after looking at appsrv wizard, can be that we don't support deploying to remote app server.
Ludo, can you comment please?
There's no time to do this in 4.1, but we should resolve this in next release, so decreasing priority to P3.
Agreed with P3. However, priority should not be based on whether these is time or not, but based on the NetBeans bug priority criteria: http://qa.netbeans.org/processes/bug_priority_guidelines.html
The UI in this area changed quite a bit after Beta... It might not be a bug anymore.... Of course, usability issues are always subjective... HIE needs to finalized this debate for 4.2 for sure.
Yes, it has changed a little since beta. The help documents has been improved a lot as well. However, the UI is still very far from ideal. We definetely want to redesign this in 4.2. I'm asssigning this to me and changing the issue summary to "Unclear adding of server instances".
this is a server registration issue
the new Ui addresses this issue http://serverplugins.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=cvs&msgNo=916
