Hi Ian, hope I'm right that Ian will takt that one too. OK after deinstalling Milestone 6 and installing Milestone 7 I experienced that the modified VM is missing in the package. So i did a trick and kept the VM from Milestone 6, but in despite of M ilestone 6 behaviour Milestone 7 will 7 does not automatically use the modified VM when trying via button "Profile Main Porject", instead an informal message comes up to add the modified VM and calls the Dialog of the "Java Plattform Manager" dialogue. so far so good .... ;-) but then when trying to choose the profiler-ea-vm directory and clicking next, following message appears : "Cannot detect and install the selected plattform" I tried in different variations like trying the same directly with the "Plattform Manager" with same results. So I hope that will help. Greetings from Erding CU Berni
Hi Berni, in M7 the modified VM is not part of the standard install, it needs to be downloaded separately as an NBM and installed into the IDE. Please go to the download page and download the NBM for your platform.
Hi Ian, I downloaded the new modified VM. I added the nbm file to Netbeans as a module. Then first try to start profiler returns message " None of the installed Java plattforms can be used .... ", when trying to choose the "profiler-ea-vm" directory and clicking next, following message appears : "Cannot detect and install the selected plattform" hmmm ... what am I doing wrong ? CU Berni
This is a separate issue with RC 1 that I just fixed - issue 60389 - the vm files in bin directory do not have the execubale flag set on unixes, and the IDE refuses to install that as a platform (it would nto work even if it did). You can manually chmod the bin directory to 755 and then add it as a Java platfrom.
