Description Petr Blaha 2005-08-26 08:39:07 UTC
[build 20050825]
I was able to add new instance of Sun App server 9 in development build. I think
that this version of NetBeans includes plugin that supports only Sun App server
8. There are two solutions:
1) add new check in 'Add server' wizard and display warning message for Sun App
server 9
2) change description in combo box that is in Choose server panel. Change
description for app server to 'Sun Java System Application Server 8.1' and don't
add new check. User is informed that only 8.1 version is supported. This is
consistent with other servers e.g. JBOSS 4.0, WebLogic 9.0

Applying option 2.

Will not fix this bug. I want to leave the door open for people to try GlassFish
in a J2EE 1.4 mode with NetBeans 5.0.
While this is not supported, it works very well, as GlassFish is equivalent to
AS 8.1 in the J2EE 1.4 area, and add the entire Java EE 5 support.
Glassfish will not FCS before next year, but we need feedback from developes if
possible.
