Description dmladek 2000-06-19 14:57:34 UTC
jdk1.2.2-L,green thread, nojit
linuxRedHat6.1 2.2.12-20smp
This bug report is for bouth components which is possible chose above.
But only one can be selected.

1)
java.lang.NullPointerException
at javax.swing.text.ComponentView.setComponentParent

I was attept to use online help on object class. I wasn't sure about the icon
what it means.
(It had normal icon as it's usual with class object. After changing the
autocomments in it, the icon turned in another one, but with the red square in
it.)
So, I pressed F1 (probably more then once) and a lot of Exceptions apeared in
the info window(s).
Look at the attachment.

2)
Another problem is that this icon miss in the online documentation. There is the
only one without red square in it.
So I don't know still what does it mean....
That the second bug.

For #1:

Looks to me like a Java platform bug, aggravated by something in JavaHelp but
still a core Java bug. Should probably be reported as such.

#2:

There should be a description of the red X over source files (misparse) included
in the general list of object types. Patrick says it is there already.
Comment 3 Jesse Glick 2000-08-23 16:13:59 UTC
Setting to "won't fix" for #1; esp. using 1.2.2, your results may vary.
Hopefully 1.3 is better.

For #2, I think this is in UG, there has been no reply -> I assume it is there.
In the future please file separate bugs for separate items; this one would be
"invalid".
Comment 4 dmladek 2001-02-06 19:06:59 UTC
Verified as wontfix
OK, it's too old and the problem with new builds dismised
Comment 5 Quality Engineering 2003-07-01 15:24:41 UTC
Resolved for 3.4.x or earlier, no new info since then -> closing.
