5.0 beta 1 would allow cut & paste of a tree, such as a panel containing other
objects like buttons, to a new frame; this was very fast. 5.0 beta 2 does not,
although the individual buttons can be pasted. This requires a new frame to have
a panel inserted, then the layout set, and the contained objects cut/pasted
afterwards.

I guess this belongs to GUI editor.

i'm sorry, but i couldn't reproduce the problem. i tryied to cut/copy & paste a
JPanel with two buttons from a JFrame based form to another one and it worked
for me no matter how i did it - via shortcuts or menu actions, in the form
designer or in the inspector, on windows or linux - it always seemed to work
fine, so maybe there was something special on your use case. Could you please
try to describe the exact steps you did?
