Description ngbrito 2006-07-05 15:24:10 UTC
I have Netbeans IDE 5.0 with Netbeans Profiler 5.0 installed on my machine and
would like to try Netbeans IDE 5.5 Beta 2 with Netbeans Profiler 5.5 Beta 2 but
without uninstalling the Netbeans Profiler 5.0 which is used by the Netbeans IDE
5.0.
But I noticed 2 things which can mean problems with such a configuration:
1) The documentation and installer tell me to uninstall any previous versions of
Netbeans Profiler.
2) The Netbeans Profiler stores the calibration data in a directory
(%USERPROFILE%\.nbprofiler) wich doesn't change from version to version like
that used by the Netbeans IDE (%USERPROFILE%\.netbeans\5.0).

I suspect that the only thing that may really prevent side by side installations
of different versions of Netbeans Profiler is the fact that the data directory
is always the same independentely of the Netbeans Profiler version.

It would be nice that different Netbeans Profiler versions could coexist on the
same machine like it happens with the other modules, e.g. IDE, Mobility Pack, etc.
