build 200608010000 jdk1.5.07 Have Application Client project 1) Open sun-application-client.xml (via 'Open') 2) Fill in "Context Root", "Vendor" and check Eligible fields 3) In 'XML view', values are filled in elements. 4) Save & close 5) Open it again. All fields are empty, but they are still in xml.

Well, the good news is that the backing datamodel is fine which means that entering them in text mode should be viable workaround. Embarassing though, the UI simply doesn't have code load these three values from the datamodel, which means I never tested this :( 5 minutes to fix, I'll do it today.
