Coke build 17a on Mac OS X ppc & intel only using jdk 1.6 beta 2. Stepping through the Reverse Engineering tutorial to steps to create class diagram from selected elements step 5 of section "Generating a Class Diagram". The attached java.lang.StackOverflowError exception dialog appeared and class diagram was not created properly. After this dismissing this exception dialog, clicking anywhere on the diagram pops up this exception dialog again. So, could not continue to work until ide is restarted. See attached for the ide log file containing this super long exception.

Workaround: use jdk 1.5 to start IDE.
in current trunk build (200609191130) this bug in no longer reproducible on the mac.
wasn't using 1.6 - reopening
This has been filed against Apple JDK (#4753898). This is a known problem... Message from 01-Oct-2006 08:39 PM Stoney Gamble: Hi Kris, this is a known issue and is being tracked under Bug ID#4647508. Once this issue has been addressed, I'll notify you of the resolution.

Depends on the port to the netbeans graph library, currently scheduled for after 6.1.
Problem is no longer present with latest Mac JDK and port to NB visual library.
