Description Masaki Katakai 2006-09-11 04:11:13 UTC
NB: 5.5 beta2
JDK: 1.5.0_07
Platform: Windows XP, Solaris 10, Fedora Core 5

When I installed NB5.5 into the directory of multibyte characters,
I can not create any project, it cauases

This is a regression - I could not see this issue when I tried 5.0.

1. Create multibyte folder
  I tried Japanese
2. Install NB into the folder
3. Start it
4. Try to create new project happens,
it's saying like "invalid char is including in file path" in Japanese.

I'll attach the message log.

I don't think this is a regression or a bug; based on earlier such issues,
its been that its not supported that nb be installed in dir/path that
has multibyte. If its worked in some cases that is good, but I don't
think its a supported situation.
Comment 3 Ken Frank 2006-09-11 08:16:42 UTC
please add to release notes; this would be imprtant for anyone who might
want to install in dir/path that had multibyte; this is not limited to
localized bits, can even happen with en bits.
Comment 4 Ken Frank 2006-09-11 08:22:08 UTC
see also 51127 and 8554 on this topic.

please file an RFE on this topic if you feel it is
something that customers would find important
to be able to do and that its a common thing
that they do (use of mbyte in dir or path to nb install directory)
Comment 5 Ken Frank 2006-10-12 03:01:56 UTC
as per comments below, this is not an issue since its been stated that installing
into dir with multibyte is not allowed.

keyword RELNOTE has been marked and hope it can be release noted.

Also, RFE will be filed to ask for this functionality.
