Description otto_hartvich 2006-11-07 16:17:24 UTC
I have the instance of SJS AppSrv 9.1. Admin user authentication is configured
against LDAP using LDAP realm version of admin-realm. The authentication works
fine if I authenticate using WebConsole. When I start the instance out of the
NetBeans environment I get the error message 'Authentication for SJS AppSrv 9.1
failed with message ...' - see attachment.

5.5 has issues interoperating with 9.1. Please try a build of 5.5.1 or 6.0 to
see if this issue still exists in that configuration.

I did not mean to close this issue.. just asking for more info.
Comment 4 otto_hartvich 2007-04-17 09:09:48 UTC
Tested with NB 5.5.1. The issue remains. I am not about to install NB 6.0.

I needed to get some assistance with this, since I don't know how to configure the AS in manner similar to the one you
describe.

Here is what my colleague did to configure the domain...

> I configured the AS domain to match the users configuration. I followed the hints given in

> i.e. Here are the brief steps

> 1. install opends from http://opends.dev.java.net
> 2. install Directory Editor from https://XXXXXXX/sunone/directory-editor.shtml?menu#software
> 3. create a ldap group in opends called asadmin using directory editor
> 4. create an ldap user called admin and assign it to group asadmin . Set the password for admin as something different
from adminadmin
> 5. Change the realm admin-realm from the admin-gui to LDAPRealm. Give the ldap server address and bind dn.
> 6. restart domain, while starting from commandline specify the passwordfile (otherwise it is assumed to be admindmin)

This domain is running on a machine in India.

I was able to register the domain with 5.5.1 AND 6.0... I was able to explore the nodes in the Runtime explorer.

Note the build of GF V2 is pretty recent.

If you are still running into difficulties, please provide more details about your configuration...
