NOTE: This bug was originally reported here -

Tested Builds:
Downloaded OOo-Dev_SRC680_m222_LinuxIntel_install_en-US.tar.gz package from:
http://openoffice.bouncer.osuosl.org/?product=OOo-Dev&os=linuxintel&lang=en-US&version=SRC680_m222

Problem -
The notes view in impress currently shows the slide and the notes all as one
page. Thus if you have many notes you are not able to view all your notes and
the slide at the same time. In power point the notes are displayed in a
separate pane with their own scroll bar. Thus you can scroll down through your
notes while leaving the slide still on the screen.

This is an enhancement.
In my mind it's a very useful enhancement.
Please have a look.

Voting for this. The current behavior also has the following problems
- it is completely hellish to try to select the stuff, you have to place the
mouse cursor precisely on characters to activate the "text box" that contains
the notes
- it has margins all around, as if I was taking notes on paper. Huge waste of
space or my already tiny screen. If I wanted to take notes by hand, I would be
using blank paper or print out the slides, I don't want the drawbacks of paper
on my screen when I take notes with a laptop.
- it doesn't scroll. Ever tried taking huge amounts of notes on one slide? It
will exceed the length of the "page".
- every slide needs to be zoomed in/out, scrolled up/down, because of this
- I can't edit the slide contents while in "notes mode"!

Agreed, I used impress to produce a presentation for the first time, and it took
significantly longer than it would have in powerpoint. Every time i switched to
the notes window, I would have to zoom in to see what I was typing. Then when I
would peek back at the slide and switch back to notes, it would be zoomed out
again.A split window would eliminate this annoying back-and-forth process.

I don't consider this as an issue which need "requirements" review, reassign.
