Both photo software programs on my home PC now fail to start since installing OO
3.0.1.  Coincidence?  I cannot tell.
Open Office suspected because this notice appears when I try to start Photo Finale:
"Executable 'C:\Program Files\Photo Finale Viewer\Photo Finale.exe' had the
following unrecoverable error: Couldn't find library MSVCR90.dll (required by
C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 3\Basis\program\shlxthdl\shlxthdl.dll) Please
ensure that it is installed."
Other notice when starting PhotoStudio2000:
"The application or DLL C:\Program Files\ArcSoft\My Photo Center\Photo
Studio\JPEGLib.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your
installation diskette."
I did not find anything in the Issue Tracker.  I made a PDF of the two screens,
but see no way to attach it to this request.  Sorry, I am a neophyte and didn't
know which subcomponent to check above. Thanks for any help you can give.

This has nothing to do with framework / scripting. If OOo is
involved at all, I can only imagine an installation issue.

is -> chriswade09: Can you please check, if the library msvcr90.dll is
installed? It has to be located in a folder inside the directory:

c:\windows\WinSxS

Furthermore you can make the following test:
Remove the module "Windows Explorer Extension" from the OpenOffice.org
installation. This removes the file
"C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 3\Basis\program\shlxthdl\shlxthdl.dll" from
your office installation.
You know how to remove modules in maintenance mode via Add-Remove-Software
applet in the Control Panel?

Thank you for your assistance with this issue.

I did find msvcr90.dll 9.0.21022.8 in a folder
x86_Microsoft.VC90.CRT_1fc8b...._d08d0375 within WinSxS.

Per your instructions, I removed the Windows Explorer Extension, and the one
program which mentioned Open Office 3 in the error message did then work.

The other program, ArcSoft PhotoStudio2000, which says "JPEGLib.dll file is not
a valid Windows image" is still not functioning.  It came installed on my
computer, so I do not have installation discs.  I have been unsuccessful in
trying to find a source from which I could download it, to see if a new copy
would function.
