Description radius611 2009-03-30 00:05:05 UTC
Hi I had a paper that I had almost finished. I thought I had saved it but I
guess not, but still the auto save feature should have protected me when my
battery died in my laptop bag. When the computer did the recovery, it put me
back where I had started several days ago - my name and the essay title. PLEASE
FIX THIS! I was really upset to find Auto-save didnt do anything, especially
since I left it open all night and it's supposed to save every 15 minutes.

Is this reproducible with the file? Another file?
Does the AutoSave not autosave every time you have made modification to a file?
Which modification had you done?

It is not an "AutoSave" feature which saves the file itself at a certain
interval. It is an Autorecover function, which saves a temporary copy of the
file at the interval time. This has the advantage thar the file of the document
itself cannot be corrupted if a system failure happens during saving.

Didn't you get the "Recovery" dialog when starting OOo after your system went
down due to power "outage"? Normally this happens - I just tested it.

I started over on the essay. I Didnt try to test it again to see if it did it
again. But the recovery wizard did start, it just didnt recover anything that
wasn't already there.
