Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 101087
Endnotes in multiple columns have extra space
Last modified: 2017-05-20 10:44:51 UTC
Endnotes laid out in multiple columns have extra space above the notes. Steps to reproduce: 1) Configure a text document for endnotes 2) Configure the "Endnote" page style to use two columns 3) Add notes to the text 4) Observe the extra space above the notes See the attached document for an example.

@OD: smaller description: - New text document - Modify the Endnote page style to have a 2 colimns layout - Insert an endnote -> there is a space between the first endnote and the top margin. Approx. 1,30cm. Note: was already reproducible in OOo 2.4
first investigation reveals that the described behavior exists since OOo 1.0 Deeper investigation needed to determine, if this is intended or if it is a defect
Endnotes strongly would profit from a two-column layout, which regularly saves much space and improves readability. To my observation the space can be much larger and lots of other uncontrolled bahaviour takes place, if this more professional-style formatting is used. Definitely appears as a bug. Would be highly desirable to be fixed.
Echoing everything that Gogtl said. The bug limits endnotes to single column on the page* when endnote listing would benefit functionally and aesthetically from standard multi-column layout. * unless user is not bothered by the bug's ugly prefixed whitespace
