Description Unknown 2002-12-16 18:32:17 UTC
When using the "Reset numbering to" from a paragraph style, nothing happens,
the paragraphs continue being numbered as if the reset was not present.
To reproduce this bug:
	1) start a new document
	2) Create two paragraph styles, "number" and "reset"
	3) Set the paragraph numbering style for "number" to Numbering1
	4) Set the paragraph numbering style for "reset" to Numbering1 and set
the "Reset numbering to" check box.
	5) Create three lines of random text, assign the first to "reset", the
second to "number" and the third to "reset".

Notice that the numbering is "1" "2" "3", not "1" "2" "1" as it should be.

Reassigned to MRU

In the style it is only possible to reset the "Line numbering" for the
paragraph, but not the "Paragraph numbering". The paragraph numbering
can only be resetted as hard attribute in "Format.Paragraph" for each
paragraph.
This is not allowed, because it might interfere with the "start with"
feature of the numbering style.

Closed, because not a but; more a limitation due to the concept.
Comment 4 Unknown 2003-01-10 21:06:02 UTC
Adding the ability to reset paragraph numbering from a style is a
useful feature, and is required for including source-code dumps into a
document wiithout manually resetting code numbering before each file.

Sorry, but this won't be implemented.
There are two reasons, why this has not been designed like you desire.
1. It might interfere with the "Start at" property of a Numbering style
2. It does not make sense to have several succeeding paragraphs which
all have the number 1, because they all have the same paragraph style
where the number is resetted to 1.
This was the result of a kind of User experience research.

Comment 7 Unknown 2003-01-13 15:36:40 UTC
It does not make sense to have several consecutive paragraphs all set
to "1", but when used with another style, you can have many paragraphs
in a numbered order, and a new list automatically somewhere else.

A suggested fix: Instead of adding a "reset to..." button in paragraph
styles, which may interfere with the numbering style, add a "reset
paragraph numbering" check box, which resets to the "start at" of the
numbering style. No flexibility is lost and a useful feature is
gained.

Not the worst proposal... reassigned to Product Management for decision.
