Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 101217
Digital signature for OOo programm-files
Last modified: 2018-08-04 18:39:24 UTC
The Java Executables are all (or mostly?) digitally signed. Why doesn't that belong to the OOo Files too?
@ mh: Please have a look.
sign executables to ensure what ? to grant integrity of the files the signing of the packages should be enough.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus solutions (and most likely others too) read the digital signature vendor name, and compares it with a built-in list of trusted applications. If the app is in the list, it is handled with predefined security- rules. In this case, the user doesn't need to answer so many questions from the AV. So, signing the executables can help providing a better user experience..
