Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 101694
[DE], [FR] [ES ]Send - Create Master Document broken
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:17:32 UTC
In mailing list [de-users] I read that there are problems to create Master documents. I checked with "Ooo 3.1.0 multilingual version German UI WIN XP: [OOO310m11 (Build 9399)]" and can confirm the problem. Steps to reproduce (Menu items translated) 1. Open new WRITER document 2. Type 1 single blank into the document 3. Menu 'File -> Send -> Create Master Document 'Save as' dialogue opens as expected (I use OOo dialogues) 4. click "Automatic name extension" and insert name into Name pane 5. <Enter> expected: New master document will be created actual: Error message "Dokument konnte nicht erzeugt werden" (Unable to create document) Same proceeding works fine with I checked with "Ooo 3.1.0 multilingual version ENGLISH UI WIN XP: [OOO310m11 (Build 9399)]". So may be "l10n"? New due to other reports in [de-users]
Same UI language sensitive behaviour with "Ooo Dev 3.2.0 multilingual version German UI WIN XP: [DEV300m44 (Build 9395)]" using WIN dialogues
"Ooo 3.1.0 multilingual version French UI WIN XP: [OOO310m11 (Build 9399)]" is also affected. Eventually all localizations? For clearification: I downloaded the German version and installed additionally "en_us" and "fr" language packs
Same happens with 'Create HTML-Dokument'.
First I could confirm this issue entirely. But since yesterday I have no problems creating Master- and HTML documents from new Writer documents and documents created with OOo 3.1. The only thing between the first confirming and yesterday was the installation (setup -a) of OOo 3.1 en_US using the same user directory as the German OOo.
Same problem in OOo 3.1 FR. I installed en_us langpack, changed UI language to en_us and "Send - Create Master Document" works well. Regards JBF
I checked with "Ooo Dev 3.2.0 multilingual version German UI WIN XP: [DEV300m44 (Build 9401)]" and I still see reported effect. Currently I have to use 2.4.1 parallel to 3.1 to create master documents according to my needs.
Which effect? your reported as well as the other reported?
@rainerbielefeld: In your first description you talk about "2. Type 1 single blank into the document". Yes, with one single blank in the document I can reproduce it and in m48 EN. So guessing it's not language specific. But as soon as you type 1 letter in the document, it works. And yes it worked in 2.4.1 with a single blank. So I think we can lower the priority and the "dramatic" of the summary :) Do you agree with this analysis?
Based on my posting from Sun May 10 I have no problem with new documents, too with one single blank. With Ubuntu and OOo 3.1 German no master document can be created. After installing en_US language pack it works fine with new documents, even withmone blank. I didn't test it with older ones. After deinstalling en_US language pack -> no master document possible.
@jolatt: I'm sorry, I still see all reported "send - create" effects. What do you mean with "After installing en_US language pack"? Did you also select that UI? Does the problem reappear if you change back to German UI? @es: For me it's 100% related to selected UI language. My 3.1 is a German version with EN_US and other languabe packs, my m45 is an EN_US version with German and French language pack. I checked with "Ooo Dev 3.2.0 multilingual version German UI selected: [DEV300m44 (Build 9401)]", OOo dialogs and saw: - new Document with 1 blank -- Send - created HTML document does NOT work -- Send - created Master document does NOT work - new Document with 3 "lorem ipsum" paragraphs same as with only blank Same with "Ooo Dev 3.2.0 multilingual version WIN XP French UI selected: [DEV300m44 (Build 9401)]" All works fine when English UI is selected. So I can not assume "works with 1 single character in document"
Same with "Ooo 3.1.0 WIN XP multilingual version Spanish UI activated [OOO310m11 (Build 9399)]", as expected.
As I wrote creating a master document with ubuntu 9.04 and OOo 3.1 German didn't work. After installing the en_US language pack and switching to the English UI it works fine. The problem reappears switching back to German UI. Creating master documents under WinXP still works as described.
3.1 on XP, Vista, MacOSX, Ubuntu French version only, not in US version : The file is only divided into sub-sections of Level 1 Here is a simple example to convert it into a master document by dividing it according to a heading style other than the Level 1 : http://www.cijoint.fr/cjlink.php?file=cj200905/cijgdAKCTR.odt Menu : File > Send > Create Master Document The choice of "separated by" "Style:Titre" (Title) is not taken into account: idem with "Style: Corps de texte" (Body Text) or "Niveau 2" (Level 2)... : it seems that it a problem of localization (style name) as in U.S. it works ... i.e. Whatever the choice used The file is only divided into sub-sections of Level 1 (the blank sections of Level 1 are processed only in text box. Operating expected as under 2.4.2 and 3.0.1, division according to the style or level. It seems that it a problem of localization (style name) as in U.S. it works Best regards JYL
I could reproduce it on Vista with a French 3.1rc2 1) French 3.1rc2 - new document - type some text - Send - Create Master Document -> Error "Cannot create" 2) Same as 1) but format the text Heading 1 -> No problem 3) Same as 1) but with the English version -> No problem @OS: guessing "yet another" string problem with "Default"/"Standard" naming??? @OS/MBA: I set 3.2 because it is what it deserve in theory. Now, you know, work load... :)
Target changed to 3.x
Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
