Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 101977
Charts in Calc can only be copied to Writer, not to Mac OS X clipboard
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:11:21 UTC
Graphics made in calc can not be copied to the Mac OS X clipboard. So they cannot be processed e.g. by preview.app, inkscape or so; the workaround I found is to copy the graphics to writer, export it as a pdf - and then process it… - a little complicated. Very nice would be a pdf-export to the Mac OS X clipboard in order to achieve high-quality vector graphics on the Mac OS X side.
Works pretty now in 3.2.0 (320m4 Build 9450). You are great, folks!
… sorry, seems to have worked a few times by accident - now the funktionality is gone again… (320m4 Build 9450). I can paste an object to preview.app, but find it empty. The clipboard states it co contains an image - but displayes plain white as well. Workaround: Print to preview, save the preview. Mac OS X 10.4.11, PPC
The same in ooo320m19, build 9505
Confirming issue. SBA -> PL: As seen, both inserted pictures as well as inserted draw objects copy well from Calc to i.e. TextEdit (seen in OOO330_m17/OOo 3.3. RC7, Mac OS 10.6.5), but Charts do not. Changed summary accordingly. Please proceed, thx.
The reason would seem to be that for charts and other OLE objects like formula only internal formats are put into the clipboard; adding at least an image format should fix this (a high level format like SVG or PDF would be even nicer, but an image should be easy to produce when a Metafile is already available). It seems the common code for this would be in svtools/source/misc/embedtransfer.cxx in the SvEmbedTransferableHelper class. @mav: cd suggested you might want to have a look at this ?
Setting the target to 3.x for now.
set target to 3.x since not release relevant for 3.4.
Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
