Description johntolkien 2009-06-01 07:47:27 UTC
I created a document with writer. On the footer I inserted a next page field
(Insert-->fields-->Other;Type: "Page"; Select: "Next Page"; Format: "As page
style").

It worked exactly how I expected it to work (means: last page - no entry).

However, when I finished the document, I decided to add a cover page. So I
renamed the "Default" Page Style I had used and inserted a new cover page with a
new style. Now, the last page (of the document) shows a printable value for next
page on the footer (which it should not)

I think the cause is the mean you used to insert the page break after the cover
page. Please try this :
- in format of the first paragraph (He nervously looked ...), tab Text flow,
remove deselect Breaks / Insert
- this paragraph comes in the first page
- place the cursor just after "Title page" and insert à manual break / page /
with style First page
- at cursor position insert another manuel break / page / with style Default

You obtain 4 pages, the second is blank and the count "next page" is now correct.

Thank you for a very fast reply and sorry for my delayed reply. Your suggestion
worked perfectly, even though I must confess I do not completely understand what
was wrong with the way I inserted the page break.

Thank you.

Ok, I don't know well the documentation in English but I suggest you to read
Writer Guide : http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/userguide3/index.html.

Closing as invalid (not an issue).
