Description rohberric 2009-06-22 10:51:53 UTC
Hi fellows,

I used Oo 3.01 writer/web and updated to V 3.1 where things changed. I inserted
pictures like http://www.example.com/picture.jpg which worked in earlier version.

This was converted to something like

<IMG SRC="http://www.example.com/picture.jpg"

Now the link to the picture will be changed to some local reference like

<IMG
SRC="/C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Administrator/Local%20Settings/Temporary%20Internet%20Files/Content.IE5/01KL45OP/o2%5B1%5D.jpg"

For what I used writer/web the old behavior was exactly what I wanted and expected.

Shouldn't there be at least an opportunity to select how writer should handle this?

Perhaps to clear things up: I used writer/web and saved as html.

How did you exactly "inserted" pictures in your document?
The new link looks like a copy/paste of an image from IE.

Please attach a sample document which contains an external link and is
"converted" to a local link in 3.1

Sorry for the unprecise description. I inserted over the menue Insert/From File

See first attachement.

Second attachement is the resulting document. As mentioned, I used this way in
Version V3.01 and before with the result of an inserted URL
http://33kmh.de/public/dies&das/o2.jpg
instead of a local reference.

Thanks for fast reaction & taking care.

It's because you use the system dialog to insert the hyperlink (compare with OOo
dialogs in "Tools - Options - OpenOffice.org - General - Use OpenOffice.org
dialogs ").

On Win2000 and XP, the Windows open dialog downloads using IE and links to the
IE cache.
We cannot change this because it comes from the system.

Use the OOo dialogs and the problem does not appear.

I tried your suggestion but sorry to say that it doesn't work.

It gives me an error: Non existing objekt. The file doesn't exist. If I
copy&paste the URL http://33kmh.de/public/dies&das/o2.jpg into a web browser it
shows the photo.

So something changed in behavior from 3.01 to V3.1 in handling inserted pictures
that are refered via http:// protocol.

Comment 9 eric.savary 2009-06-24 16:31:44 UTC
Did you really past "http://33kmh.de/public/dies&das/o2.jpg" in the OOo doalog
or just "33kmh.de/public/dies&das/o2.jpg"?

Do connect to the Internet over a proxy?
Did you check your settings then under "Tools - Options - Internet - Proxy"?

Comment 10 rohberric 2009-06-25 08:07:02 UTC
I entered complete url incl. protocol

http://33kmh.de/public/dies&das/o2.jpg

No proxy. To ensure I changed setting from Proxy / "System" to "none".

Same result.

Your suggested solution works like you expected but only under V3.01. In V3.1
the mentioned error occurs "Non existing objekt. The file doesn't exist."

Bu addionally I tried again in V3.01 and I have to admit that the way I done it
only works if I switch to system dialog by OS or by OpenOffice. As you said.

A little weird because I always used system dialogs from OS in the past without
problems.

Nothing is sure, only one thing: everythings keeps changing.....
Comment 12 eric.savary 2009-07-02 22:44:16 UTC
Then the "Non existing object. The file doesn't exist." would be an other issue
(which I can not reproduce).
I don't have a Wondows *2000* (only XP and Vista) to check this.
Please file a new issue for this.

Now you have seen that the OS dialog uses IE as downloader.
You have probably used an other method in the past to insert your picture (drag
& drop, copy paste...?)

A different behavior between 3.0.1 and 3.1 can not be reproduced -> worksforme.
