Description filozofl 2009-07-12 22:19:59 UTC
While applying autofilter with range larger than 400 rows, calc crashes.
I've tried with range up to 400 rows, it works fine, 401 rows - crash.
Console says:
------------------------
/usr/bin/soffice: line 134: 24671 Naruszenie ochrony pamieci
"$sd_prog/$sd_binary" "$@"
------------------------

I think it should be translater "segmentation fault"; literaly it's "Memory
protection violation".

Please specify if you are using Sun-built or distro-included version of OO.

Can't confirm it.
Comment 3 Nick Hibma 2013-10-17 08:59:28 UTC
In my case it seems to be related to the 'freeze' just below the header line of the table. If I disable the freeze I can actually use autofilter again. Please note that I have used the freeze and autofilter function together for a while now, so it might not crash in your case right away.

Smallest test case that crashes here:

- Create a new sheet.
- Set A1 to "A".
- Set A2 to "1".
- Select A2.
- Select Window->Freeze.
- Select Data -> Filter -> AutoFilter.
- Select the little arrow next to "A" in A1.

Here AOO stops responding. If it doesn't for you, try adding a large number of rows (400+; my sheet is 600+ rows).

Attached a few 'hang' reports from my Logs dir, and my emptied hour sheet that exhibits this crash.

Version information:
Mac OS X : 10.8.5
AOO: 4.0.1

ALG: Tried with AOO410m1(Build:9750) - Rev. 1530891 on windows, could not reprocuce. Note: When creating 400 entries (or more) these will be added to the drop-down menu on the button in field A1, maybe mac UI has a limit there (?)

No crash with autofilter.

Well, this is reproducible here and has been for several years. For what it's worth: LibreOffice _and_ NeoOffice do not exhibit this issue, so it most probably is a Mac OS X user interface issue in your code.

Testing a user interface issue on _THE WRONG_ platforms and concluding that it is not reproducible means you have a serious disconnect with your userbase. Edwin, I suggest that you reopen this bug and someone else looks at it, someone who knows the difference between 'You reported an invalid problem' (silly, techie attitude) and 'You seem to have an issue which you need our help to resolve, so let me help' (sensible attitude). With the latter you build a product, with the former a toy that works for you.

Dear Nick

Hardware says: PC Linux

Debian is a linux distribution.

If you reproduce the bug why leave status UNCONFIRMED ???

Please change hardware and status to reflect your findings!

> If you reproduce the bug why leave status UNCONFIRMED ???

He can't!
Ordinary bugzilla users can only add comments, attachments, tags and votes.
The owner of the bug and qa members like you can change more.

> Please change hardware and status to reflect your findings!

that's your role
