In which OOo version?
Which part of the page do you copy and paste.

It just takes its time performing to paste all the contents from IE into Writer.
I had to wait for some minutes. But it seems to be a problem in the HTML which
IE places in the clipboard.
When doing the same with FireFox 3.x, paste will happen immediately.
Additionally, please check you proxy settings in Tools.Options.Internet. It
should be "none" for the case you have a direct internet connection.

Feel free to reopen if you have more information.
I get to the same results then MRU:
- IE (not 8 but 7): 34 seconds including the picture.
- Firefox: instantaneously including the picture.

Also I tested:
- IE -> Dreamweaver: 9 sec
- Firefox -> Dreamweaver: 2 sec

So I also think there is definitively something wrong with IE.
