Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 10467
use of colors
Last modified: 2003-06-11 20:04:13 UTC
The use of foreground color (including Black and White) in the user Help documentation apparently assumes that all Windows users use the standard Windows display scheme, or -- at least -- use white or light background colors. Try looking at the Help files with a Windows Display Scheme of "High Contrast Black". Most of the Help becomes invisible, since Black text (of the Help documentation) doesn't show up on the Black background (of the Display Scheme). If it is thought necessary to specify the color of any font, then it is also necessay to define the bacground color on which that font will appear (and visa-versa), since whatever is not specified will default to the user's choice and possibly result in incompatible colors. (In general, I think it best to default to the user's preference, since visual handicaps may have influenced those preferences.)
Changing to the Framework Project. They should be able to take care of this.
Frank, please comment on that.
There are a couple of aspects to this issue: 1. Since the help viewer displays HTML it behaves like a browser window and therefore does not adjust coloring to system's contrast settings. It behaves just like Internet Explorer in this case. 2. 1.1Beta allows to switch the stylesheet that is used to display the help to high-contrast variants that are also provided. The stylesheet can be switched in Tools - Options - General 3. The current 1.1Beta includes outdated help (see also #i10017#). Therefore, the effect is not visible there. Item 3 will be corrected for Beta2.
Too late for beta2, re-targeted to 1.1 RC.
Issues 2+3 are fixed. Issue 1 is a conceptual issue and will not be fixed for 1.1
