Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 104768
custom date format not available in slide footer
Last modified: 2014-06-14 16:26:03 UTC
The header/footer dialog in Impress allows the use of automatic variable (current? or last saved?) date/time, but only a few formats. Please add the ability to use custom formats. If OpenOffice runs on top of Java, why can't you support the formatting options of java.text.SimpleDateFormat? http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/text/SimpleDateFormat.html I would like to configure date/time as "Thu 3 Sep 2009 14:59" or "September 3, 2009 14:59" or whatever format I feel like using for a given presentation. There's no way you can cover all the reasonable date/time formats, so please offer a way for users with reasonable skills to use custom date/time formats.
Reassigned.
In OpenOffice Impress 4.1.0 on Windows 8.1, I have confirmed the limitation of selecting Date and Time formats for the Slide Footer from a pre-populated drop-down. My steps to reproduce: 1. Create a new Impress presentation. 2. Select Insert -> Date and Time. 3. Select Variable. 4. Observe the available Date and Time selections in the drop-down (there are 10 different formats to pick from). Also, I compared this to PowerPoint 2013. PowerPoint also does not offer any Date and Time formatting customization in the Slide Footer. It has a similar drop-down menu selection of date and time formats (13 different formats to pick from, or only 3 additional selections).
