Description fbartolom 2009-09-15 10:08:20 UTC
Hullo,

I created an Analytic Index as well a set of end notes in a document.
In the former case the system automatically inserted an "Indice Analitico" (the
version is Italian) header, that does not appear in the Main Index by itself as
it should be the case not can I copy the style from another header to enable the
feature.

As for the notes the situation is even worse as the system inserts just the
notes without any header and seems not to give me access to the first line of
the first page where I could insert an header (Notes) myself.
How do I fix this two issues?

Thanks, Fabrizio

Regarding your "Indice Analitico" (which is called "Alphabetical Index" in English):
You have to assign a Heading style which is applied in Tools.Outline numbering
(by default "Heading 1" paragraph style) to the Heading of your index. This is
done in the Index dialog on the "Styles" tab.
Please for the future, ask such questions in one of the OOo newsgroups or
mailing lists as long as this is an issue tracker and not a support forum.

Regarding your notes problem, I do not understand your description. What kind of
notes are you talking about? And where do you try to put headers there?
Please attach a sample document to show the problem.

Hullo, thanks and sorry for bothering you, but if I said I find your site easy
to navigate and post issues I would be a big lier...
Than I would strongly appreciate if you sent me the direct web address to the
forum you quote so that I can bookmark it directly and ask my future issues
there possibly returning to you if it boils down to a possible bug.

Anyway I could correct the former problem following your instructions. As for
the latter I am referring to the effects of command in 'insert' just under
Footer: in Italian 'note a fine pagina / di chiusura' perhaps 'closing and
footnote notes' in english...

I attach a screen shot for the section.

That's called Footnote/Endnote in English... however, it is not allowed to
insert footnotes in header or footer, because the header content is repeated on
every page, and it won't make sense to repeat a footnote on every page.

I understand you may be tired of answering me, I may be quite heavy with my
requests at times; as well as I am sorry for my English if that is not clear enough.

Though my problem has nothing to do with inserting notes in footnotes or whatever.

I try to put it as squarely as possible: I inserted some notes in the NORMAL
TEXT of the document and chose to show the content of the notes at the end of
the document; the other possibility was to have that content at the bottom of
the same page of the references - unfortunately I did not find the possibility
of keeping it at the end of the chapter, what would have been very nice.

The notes show correctly at the end of the document as requested; BUT they start
at the very top of their first page and I found no way to add text before; what
I would need to add a title.

greetings,
Fabrizio Bartolomucci
