Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 105159
The download site for OO Aqua PC doesn't work!

Just the file index appears. How to fix?
wrong component
This page is part of the porting project. Is it still useful or is it obsolete since Mac versions are released together with other platforms?
> Is it still useful or is it obsolete since Mac versions are released together with other platforms? Only the Aqua-Intel versions are released together with the other platforms, the Aqua-PPC versions are not. They are not even built with the other versions, which is quite unfortunate IMHO. Thanks maho provides excellent builds for Aqua-PPC. Maybe the normal download pages should point to maho's builds directly?
Linking the untested release candidate as "final release" from http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/download/aqua-PPC.html is wrong. There's no official release available for version 3.1.1. For version 3.1.0 there is a build which is currently distributing through the mirror network. Unfortunately the Bouncer link http://openoffice.bouncer.osuosl.org/?product=OpenOffice.org&os=macosxppc&lang=en-US&version=3.1.0 still does not resolve. btw. this build has been provided and release tested by cmc
Regarding the en-US MacOSXPPC build I was wrong because there was a release of the en-US LinuxPPC build for 3.1.0 instead...
hdu: ja is right, there is no final released version of an Aqua PPC build. Please modify the headline and first sentence on the porting website as it is indeed not correct. Example: "OpenOffice.org Aqua Release Candidate For OpenOffice.org 3.1.1 there is a Release Candidate 2 available since August 28th, 2009." Thanks

According to the matrix in http://download.openoffice.org/other.html the latest officially distributed version of PPC as of today would be OOoX11 2.4.0. This ancient build also the lastest PPC-version available from the OOo website. It should be noted that these pre-Aqua versions and pre-OOo3 versions are rather obsoleted. Should the porting page point to this embarrassingly old release? OOo311-rcX are vastly better, but are not available anywhere directly from a stable URL on the OOo website. The best solution is for program managers, release managers and QA to work with the community the get a recent version approved and uploaded to a stable location on the OOo website. @mla: please provide the URL of that page inside the OOo-domain when it becomes available
hdu: I think it is pretty clear that a RC is not a final and approved version. As long as we haven't such a build, the website has to be modified as I told in last comment. Please do so. Everything else is a task for the future and cannot be solved in short time.
@mla: the original problem in this issue is that the link does not work directly because it is outside of the ooo-domain and also outside of bouncer. Please make the RCs available somewhere inside the ooo- domain and provide the URL. That the latest OOo-PPC version that has been managed to release status is only 2.4.0 is another problem. As requested I will point this out in the download page. The page will also be updated with the URL of the release candidate once the files have found a home inside the ooo-domain.
hdu: the original problem is more difficult than just the location of the builds. Additionally someone has to test successfully the builds to be able to say they are final. As you can see maho has build all languages which is really great but until today only the en-US build is listed in QATrack (the tool to notify others about the QA status like in QA, approved, etc. of builds). So maybe the other language teams do not want or are not able to test the builds. At least they should know it because maho is announcing them in the releases@ooo mailing list. Please change the issue owner when you have modified the website, not before. ;-)
The download site has been updated: http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/download/aqua-PPC.html > Additionally someone has to test successfully the builds to be able to say they are final. The official RELEASE CANDIDATES need to be made available. They are not available directly from the OOo domain. How are they expected to approved as final releases if they are not distributed as the official release candidates? @mla: please provide the URL of the release candidates inside the OOo-domain
hdu: when you would know how a build get released then you wouldn't ask ;-), also for non-Sun builds it is possible even when the way is different of course. For the future we will try to make the release process more unique even for non-Sun builds.
Apache OpenOffice is no longer available for MacOS on PPC. Closing this issue.
