Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 105256
WW8: When exporting numbers in RTL text, they become LTR
Last modified: 2009-09-22 12:51:14 UTC
In OpenOffice Writer, numbers seem to be "direction-neutral": numbers in RTL text use the RTL font etc., whereas numbers in LTR text use the LTR settings. This behavior is perfectly reasonable, however when exporting to MS-Word I encounter the problem described below. In Word, numbers can have a direction which is independent of the surrounding text: an LTR number in RTL text and vice-versa. The problem is then when Word opens a document (.doc or .rtf) saved by Writer, all numbers become LTR. This causes a number within a RTL paragraph to stick out, because now, in Word, it takes the LTR font, which is usually different.
Could you please attach an odt file which exported to doc format gives the described problem? Thank you very much in advance!
Created attachment 64894 [details] An .odt file which, when saved as .doc and opened in Word, shows the problem
Created attachment 64895 [details] A .doc file created by Writer, which shows the problem
I've attached an example document, both as .odt and .doc; please let me know if there's anything else I can do. Thanks!
Now I understand the problem... it is the same as tracked in issue 34662. Please vote for that one if desired. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 34662 ***
