I can reproduce a surprisingly defect with OOo 3.1.1 but not with DEV300_m60 on
ubuntu 8.04:
- create a new presentation
- insert a table 4 x 4
- select column 1 and press the button split cells in the table toolbar
- choose horizontally option and click ok
- select column 2 and press the button split cells in the table toolbar
- choose vertically option and click OK

=> column 2 is split in 2 columns but each cell in the second sub-column is,
additionally, split horizontally in 2 cells. I will attach a bugdoc to show this
effect.

I was able to reproduce this bug on
Open Office 3.3.1
OOO310m19 (build:9420)
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium - 64 bit.
This bug is reproducible

The replication steps:
- Create a 2x2table in OO Presentation
- select / highlight the first column
- right click on it and select the slit sub-menu option in the cell menu
- select the Horizontally option and click ok.
This will split the columns horizontally.
- Now select / highlight the second column.
- right click on it and select the slit sub-menu option in the cell menu
- select the vertically option and click ok.
This basically splits the selected column into 2, and then splits the other half
of the vertically splitted column Horizontally also.

i also tried with tables of larger column /row width and height, but the same
bug repeated it self again and again.

I do not reproduce the defect with OOo 3.2 RC2 (FR) nor with Dev300_m69.
Seems to be a bug OOo 3.1.1 only.

OS: LINUX/GNU
Version: 2.6.9
Desktop Interface: XCFE 4.2.1
OpenOffice: 3.1.1 (OOO310m19).

I was able to reproduce the reproduce the error by following the steps given below.
1.Open presentation in openoffice.
2.Create a 2x2 table either by using the table button on the toolbar or clicking
on Insert > Table.
3.On the table toolbar which will appear when you create the table, chose the
split button and it will give you options on the way you want to split. Make
sure the cursor is on the first row, first column of the table.
4.Split the column horizontally.
5.Then click on the column next to it. The cursor position is first row, second
column.
6.Again using the table toolbar press the split button and split vertically.
7.You will see the second sub-column is split horizontally automatically.

Interestingly, if continued with the second row of the same table and the splits
are done again in the same order, the bug does not appear and the columns split
as they should.
