Created attachment 4294 [details] patch for CVSROOT/modules
PCN 14067 has been filed internally for our operations group to apply to the servers. Thanks
ops reports that the patch was applied to openoffice.org but failed on the anoncvs and request that "they should do a diff against the modules file on anoncvs, as it appears to differ from that on openoffice.org."
the modules file from anoncvs differs from cvs since years, this is nothing new. as usual I do not have access to CVSROOT of anoncvs, so I'm not be able to provide a patch. The patch is rather trivial, the easy way is to look at the patch for cvs and make the corresponding changes to anoncvs by hand, the harder way is to provide me the CVSROOT/module file of anoncvs so that I can provide also a patch for anoncvs. Im my experience this is someway error prone. I'm wondering, why sometimes ops is also requiring a patch for anoncvs and sometimes this is no problem to have no patch for anoncvs.
Martin: one of the ways we can respond quickly to our customers is by assigning tasks to our team members. Some of the operations department is more intimately familiar with the finer customization points of OOo and others less. In general when we receive patches of this nature they're very specific to the customer needs and by policy the operations group will only apply patches written by the customer for the customer's specific needs. In the past it's possible that the task of patch application was done by someone very familiar with the setup and didn't mind making the custom changes. The downside of this team approach of course is that in some cases a team-member may be less familiar and decide to go by the book. In this case when the patch didn't work, the member of the ops team assigned to these tasks today went by their policy and asked for a new patch.
kenneth: please provide CVSROOT/modules, so that I can provide you a patch.
I've updated the internal issue w/ the request for the modules file
