Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 107011
Total number of pages ignores restart of page numbering in Calc
Last modified: 2013-05-10 12:40:16 UTC
When you insert the field for the total number of pages into a header or footer, this always displays the total number of pages in the document. This ignores any restarting of page numbering in the document. For example: a spreadsheet with 2 sheets, each with a different page style, each style set to start page numbering from 1, each sheet running to 2 printed pages. The page numbering on each successive page will read: 1 of 4, 2 of 4, 1 of 4, 2 of 4. This makes no sense. A common sense rendering of the above example would be: 1 of 2, 2 of 2, 1 of 2, 2 of 2. A total number of pages should be the number of pages of each page numbering sequence, with distinct page numbering sequences being delimited by a restarting of page numbering.
please try also the latest developer snapshot DEV300_m81 or newer if the problem is there also. there are some changes with the printing
Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately as a mere user I do not have ready access to the developer snapshots. (I understand that I could spend several hours downloading a snapshot, then some considerable time installing it, testing the issue for you, and finally reverting to my previous official release; but I have neither the time nor the inclination to do this.) I presume you are a developer, and, as such, that you have ready access to the snapshots and the specs? Would it not make more sense for you to do this? Eddie
I can confirm this issue also is present in OOO330m20 (Build:9567). This appears to be duplicate of issue #100124. If/when this is fixed, please leave the feature that (##) can still represent the total no. of pages for all sheets where page no. (#) is not restarted on each sheet.
Description still valid for Rev. 1479897 Win 7. Numbering must be sheet independent. By default, Calc should start with one instead of three sheets. If user adds more sheets, their numbering must not be combined.
