Description juliagoodwin 2009-11-24 04:17:56 UTC
After cut (ctrl-x) or copy (ctrl-c), the paste function (ctrl-v) does nothing.
Cut does remove the data. I tried using the right click on the mouse, same
problem. Pop down menu, same problem. Cut and paste and copy and paste in e-
mail works fine.
I would attach a document but don't see a way to do so. This is the first
issue I have submitted.

Cannot reproduce.
What do you past from where to where?
Comment 3 juliagoodwin 2009-11-24 18:07:12 UTC
I cut/copy and paste several different places in this document and other
documents and the paste was blank- there was no data pasted. Were you unable
to recreate in the document I attached? Do you want another document? or do
you want to test it on my machine?

When I copy/paste using the keynoard from your document into the same or an
other blank document it pastes as it should.

I don't think it is related to the document but maybe to how you copy/paste,
which programs are working on your Desktop (and might interfere) and maybe some
special part of text.

Please give an example to what you paste from where to where.

Now if you have something like a VNC connection to your computer, it might help
to see the problem...

I don't know what a VNC connection is, so I probably don't have one? Yahoo e-
mail is the only other thing running on my desktop when I tested it again this
morning. I tried other documents, one I had not opened for months, and it had
the same problem. I can copy/cut and paste successfully in e-mail. The way I
do it is- use the cursor holding down the left click to select the text, then
Ctrl-x for cut and the text is removed or ctrl-c for copy, then ctrl-v and
nothing happens. Any text, any where in the document, and the problem
happens.
A specific example in the doc I attached is select serious in the first line of
text after the title page, ctrl-x to cut it, the word serious disappears, then
move cursor down to the beginning of the next line, just after the A., and ctrl-
v to paste. The word serious is not placed at the cursor location and nothing
happens.

What happens when you do Shift+Ins instead of Ctrl+V?
Did you maybe (intentionally or not) re-map Ctrl+V to something else? ;)
Which Shortcut is displayed under "Edit - Paste"?
Comment 7 juliagoodwin 2009-11-24 19:12:33 UTC
Shift+Ins after a ctrl-x for cut does nothing- the data is not pasted.

Under edit-paste, it shows ctrl-v for paste so it does not look like the
shortcut got reassigned. And, when I do a cut, the edit-paste option does not
become available on the pop down menu.

I still couldn't reproduce it...
Maybe something specific on your system... A tweak/enhancement on your HP
computer which interferes with OOo...?

Please ask further on the users@openoffice.org mailing list if someone has a
clue, can reproduce it.

For now we cannot proceed this issue which is not reproducible here.
