I retested with OOo320m6 on Ubuntu 9.10. Please have a look the result of retest file. I can reproduce issue with "Snap to text grid(if active)" even if I use difference type of fonts. but proportional font show me difference result. I tested with Ume-P font and Ume font :http://sourceforge.jp/projects/ume-font/releases/ IPA P Gothic and IPA Gothic:http://ossipedia.ipa.go.jp/ipafont/
confirming. Western text is not needed to reproduce - already bleeds out and ignores the grid when Japanese-only text is used. Effect is highly dependent on the zoom-factor (to my surprise also in page- preview, although to a lesser extent) So my guess is some serious rounding errors are involved as well.

@Mark: Thanks a lot for the patch. At least from the diff it could be a good candidate for the next release 4.1.2.
This is now committed to trunk for testing; but, especially as it seems that the code had been deliberately modified earlier to disable this functionality, it seems unsafe to consider it for OpenOffice 4.1.2. It is on trunk, though, so native speakers will be able to test this for future releases.
"pescetti" committed SVN revision 1705365 into trunk: #i107471# Fix alignment settings in CJK text.
