Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 108026
WW8: swriter locks up (freezes) with doc containing some graphics
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:13:38 UTC
Attempt to open a particular DOC file; OO/swriter fails to open the file and becomes completely locked up, totally unresponsive to keyboard, mouse, or OS. Eventually give up and use Task Manager to close OO. Thinking my older OO3.0.x might be the problem, I downloaded and installed the latest build (#9420). The problem remains the same w/the newer version. If you'd like me to send you the DOC file that causes the problem, provide and email address and I will. Regardless of what problem/error might occur in the DOC file, OO/swriter should not lock up altogether as it does, but maybe a look at the DOC file will help you locate the problem in OO.
The best would be to attach the document here in the issue, alternatively you can send it to me by email.
Corrected wrong Keyword
please attach the offending document to this issue (as stated in the Issuetracker Basic rules http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/basic_rules.html#attachments), so that we can reproduce and fix the problem here. You can also send the document directly (mru@openoffice.org) for the case it contains confidential data. Feel free to re-open the issue when you've done. Thanks for supporting us!
Created attachment 66980 [details] DOC file which causes swriter to lock up on attempting to open
Reproducible with "Ooo 3.2.0 RC1 WIN XP DE-multilingual version German UI activated [OOo320m8 (Build 9472)]" (I tried with document from PM without knowing for what Issue it was).
@hbrinkm: confirmed too.
Reassigning issue to OD. The loop does not happen in import. The document contains a handful of graphics, some anchored as character, some to character with contour wrap. Also looped in OO2.x, so no regression.
Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
