1 open the attached file
2 set style of page 1 to "First Page" using the style and formatting window (it
has "page styles" button at its top)
3 check that the style of page 2 is "default" (by clicking on it and seeing that
"default" is selected then)
4 insert -> footer -> default
5 type "default footer"
6 save the document in .DOC format (MS Word 97/2000/XP)
7 open it
8 the footer is absent

I know that I am warned about the deficiency of .DOC while saving:

This document may contain formatting or content that cannot be saved in the
Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP file format. Do you want to save the document in this
format anyway?
Use the latest ODF file format and be sure all formatting and content is saved
correctly.

But the DOC format supports headers and footers principally, and I would like
you to support DOC completely.
